We're waiting!!!!!!!!
MAJOR BREAKING EXCLUSIVE NEWS! ANDY HARRIS ON BAILOUT
It's important to NOTE this information comes to you BEFORE the Bailout Vote.
"As the House of Representatives prepares to vote on the latest"bailout plan", I want to reiterate my opposition to this latest giveaway of taxpayer dollars to Wall Street interests. The Senate, in trying to put together legislation that would pass the House, has actually increased the amount of taxpayer liability to $805 billion from the $700 balitout plan rejected last week.
If a plan is necessary to help stabilize financial markets, then no taxpayer dollars should be put at risk. Such a plan should include at least:
1) Increasing FDIC insurance on depositis to $250,000 or more so that community and rural banks, which are not part of the current problem, won't suffer - and in fact would be made even stronger.
2) Allow changes to the "mark-to'market" accounting rules so that distressed mortgages and mortgage-backed securities can be more realistically evaluated.
3) Don't allow the government to buy distressed mortgages with taxpayer dollars, placing them at risk. Instead, expand the availability of government insurance on mortgage products to all mortgages outstanding.
4) For any company that takes advantage of the plan, "golden parachutes" for their executives would no longer be tax deductible for the company - discouraging outrageous severance packages.
5) Temporarily decrease or eliminate the capital gains taxation of private capital investments in financial institutions - encouraging an inflow of private capital rather than taxpayer funds to distressed institutions.
6) Establish more stringent SEC oversight, so that this debacle will not be repeated.
7) Finally, include provisions in the "economic rescue" package that would streamline and encourage the exploration for oil and natural gas right here in America so that energy prices can return to normal as soon as possible - thus stimulating the economy.

925 Business Closing Its Doors On The Downtown Plaza
Between the lack of customers and then somewhat shady customers walking through the doors, this business owner has had enough and is packing her bags and relocating.
Kristy Grasso has at times been scared to death in some cases when some undesirable customers walk through her door and just stand around. I have actually been there and had to ask one of them to leave. There's no real security for these women in small businesses to rely on and after one year, Kristy has had enough and is moving join forces with the Grape & Vine business at 927 Mt. Hermon Road.
Granted, Kristy hasn't had her doors open on a consistent basis and has even had to bring in her German Shepard whenever possible. There just seems to be no real answers toward success for any businesses on the Downtown Plaza. It's a real shame.
FOP Lodge 111 Press Release
Press Release
October 3, 2008
The Wicomico County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 111 has announced that it has filed a motion in the Circuit Court for Wicomico County, asking that the Honorable Circuit Court Judge David B. Mitchell alter or amend his decision in reference to the case; Wicomico County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 111 vs. Wicomico County Council, County Executive, and County Administrator Case # 22C08000521.
The motion basically asks for the court to clarify the decision in this case, as this decision could affect other citizen initiatives, as well as other jurisdictions in Maryland that currently have collective bargaining with binding arbitration and the same form of Executive/Council government.
The FOP Lodge # 111 appreciates the continued support from the citizens of Wicomico County. Since the court decision last week, we have received a tremendous amount of calls from citizens offering support, and encouragement to continue in the efforts to improve retirement and disability benefits for Sheriff’s Deputies. These citizens stated that they voted for the intent or principle of the charter amendment and believe that their will and voice has not been heard. The FOP Lodge will continue to explore what options are available and determine the next course of action.

159,000 Jobs Slashed in September
ECONOMY: Employers slashed 159,000 jobs in September
Associated Press • October 3, 2008
WASHINGTON — Employers slashed payrolls by 159,000 in September, the most in more than five years, a worrisome sign that the economy is hurtling toward a deep recession.
The Labor Department's fresh snapshot, released today, also showed that the nation's unemployment rate held steady at 6.1 percent as hundreds of thousands of people streamed out of the work force for any number of reasons.
The reduction in payrolls was much sharper than the 100,000 cuts economists were forecasting. They expected the jobless rate to be unchanged. It marked the ninth straight month that the economy has lost jobs. The drop underscores fallout from a long slump in the housing market and a dangerous credit crunch that intensified last month throwing Wall Street — and the economy — into chaos.
Employers cut 73,000 jobs in August, slightly less than the 84,000 initially estimated, according to revised figures. However, the cuts in July turned out to be a bit deeper — 67,000 versus the 60,000 previously reported.
The 159,000 jobs lost in September were the most since March 2003, when the labor market was still struggling to get back on its feet after being knocked down by the 2001 recession.

Salisbury Police Department Press Releases Worthless
Yes, the SPD finally came through with a Press Release after 7 days and it was about three arrests they made for posession of drugs.
NOTHING else happened for an entire week in Salisbury, so perhaps the volume of Police Officers is just right for this sized City? Or do you believe they're either too lazy to Post other activities? There's one more option. Perhaps they don't want you and I knowing the REAL crime going on in Salisbury.

The Bailout Bonanza
As the House moves to once again tackle the bailout bill we need to ask ourselves some hard questions:
How is a Christmas tree bill loaded up with pork in the best interests of our national economy? Have our elected representatives in the US Senate become so cynical and so lacking in any integrity that they are incapable of passing supposedly vital legislation without tacking on subsidies for manufacturers of wooden arrows? - Do we really need it?

Boxing Hall Of Fame Lou Duva Is In Salisbury
Lou Duva, Hall of Fame Trainer, is here in Salisbury to participate in tonight's Showtime Boxing Event. Fernando Guerrero and Hal Chernoff palled around with Lou and enjoyed some great fellowship last night. There's rumor Smokin Joe Frazier may attend the fight tonight too.
Lou was very relaxed and talked with anyone and everyone. The Fighters really seemed to enjoy his presence.
A Positive Outlook
One sunny day in 2009, an old man approached the White House from across Pennsylvania Avenue , where he'd been sitting on a park bench. He spoke to the Marine standing guard and said, 'I would like to go in and meet with President Barack Obama.'The Marine replied, 'Sir, Mr. Obama is not President and doesn't reside here.' The old man said, 'Okay,' and walked away.
The following day, the same man approached the White House and said to the same Marine, 'I would like to go in and meet with President Barack Obama'. The Marine again told the man, 'Sir, as I said yesterday, Mr. Obama is not President and doesn't reside here.' The man thanked him and again walked away.
The third day, the same man approached the White House and spoke to the very same Marine, saying 'I would like to go in and meet with President Barack Obama.' The Marine, understandably agitated at this point, looked at the man andsaid, 'Sir, this is the third day in a row you have been here asking to speak to Mr. Obama. I've told you already several times that Mr. Obama is not the President and doesn't reside here. Don't you understand?'
The old man answered, 'Oh, I understand you fine. I just love hearing your answer!' The Marine snapped to attention, saluted, and said, 'See you tomorrow.'

Tonight Is Fight Night In Salisbury
IT'S SHOWTIME!
Tonight is the big night Ladies & Gentlemen. Fernando Guerrero and Hal Chernoff have in fact pulled off the impossible. Showtime is here in Salisbury, tickets are still available for the fight and I fully expect if you're a last minute kind of person you'll have the chance to get out there and purchase a ticket for tonight's Main Event.
While I was at the weigh in last night, Fernando looked in far better shape. It's a big night for many undefeated fighters in several matches tonight and I can't wait till they swing the doors and make history right here in Salisbury.

University Police - Campus Safety Bulletin
Notice of Off- Campus Robbery
On September 28, 2008 at approximately 1:00 AM, a Salisbury University
student was assaulted outside a party at The Seasons (“the Zoo”)
apartment complex. The student, who was talking on his cell phone at
the time, was tackled to the ground and assaulted by four to six men.
The student’s wallet and cell phone were possibly taken during the
assault.
A similar incident occurred on September 28, 2008 at approximately 1:30
AM. A 19 year old man (non-student) was walking in the area of Smith
Street & Ohio Ave in Salisbury, when he was approached from behind and
assaulted by several men. The victim’s wallet and car keys were taken
during the assault.
The Salisbury University Police Department frequently reviews incidents
of off-campus victimization. The persons victimized in incidents such
as the two described in this bulletin, often have several traits in
common. Victims are typically:
walking alone during late night or early morning hours;
intoxicated; and
talking on a cell phone, listening to music through headphones, or
otherwise preoccupied and not attuned to the surroundings.
You can reduce your vulnerability for victimization by maintaining an
alert mind and traveling in groups.
Remember that the Salisbury University Police Department offers a free
escort service after the hour of darkness. Call 410-543-6222, - or on
campus extension 36222.
If you have any information regarding this case, contact University
Police at 410-543-6222, Salisbury Police at 410-548-3165 or Crime
Solvers at 410-548-1776.
Special bulletins are posted in an effort to make the University
community aware of any situation that poses a potential threat to the
safety and well being of those who live, work, study and visit the
campus. By keeping you aware of crimes occurring in your community, the
University Police hope to encourage you to become actively involved in
crime prevention. The following personal safety tips apply wherever one
resides. The precautions may lessen the likelihood of becoming a
victim. Increasing awareness of crime prevention techniques may
decrease the opportunity for a person to commit a criminal offense.
Street Robbery Tips:
1. Try to remain calm. Do not resist. Consider the robber dangerous.
2. In most cases, the robber only wants your valuables/money and is
not there to hurt you.
3. Assume the robber is armed, even if you don't see a weapon.
4. If a weapon is displayed, consider it to be real and loaded. Don't
stare at it.
5. Do only what the robber tells you. If you don't understand, tell
the robber.
6. Attempt to get a good, complete description of the robber.
7. Your main goal is to survive!
8. Don't fight back! The most effective self defense measures include
running away, hiding and screaming. More people will respond to someone
yelling "FIRE" than "HELP".
9. Remember--your money can be replaced, your life can't.
Basic Street Smarts:
1. Stay alert. You are your own best protection.
2. Trust your instincts. If something or someone makes your feel
uneasy, use your cell phone to call 911 for police assistance.
3. Do not walk or jog alone after dark. Walk in groups, there is
safety in numbers.
4. Walk in well-lit areas and stay near the curb, away from alleys,
entry ways and bushes where someone could be hiding.
5. Avoid short cuts. Walk where there are other people present.
6. Let a family member or friend know your destination and estimated
time of arrival.
7. Walk confidently, directly, and at a steady pace. Make eye contact
with everyone you pass. Don't talk to strangers.
8. Wear clothing and shoes that give you freedom of movement. Avoid
carrying a purse or too many items.
9. If you are being followed when walking, change directions, vary
speed. Go to a well-lit area where there are other people. If followed
by someone in a car, turn and walk in the other direction. Record the
li
cense number.
10. If you feel uncomfortable walking alone on campus or to nearby
off-campus locations during the hours of darkness, call University
Police for an escort (410-543-6222).
11. Report any suspicious activity or crimes to your local police
department.
Report any suspicious activity or persons immediately to the police. If
possible, use a cellular phone to call 911 while maintaining visual
observation of the subject(s).

THE V-P DEBATE WON'T MAKE MUCH DIFFERENCE
In the big show last night Palin did much better than anticipated -- but that was mainly because the moderator let her get away with flatly disregarding some questions and speaking off-subject numerous times. Biden did not comment about this, except a couple times, missing some golden opportunities, probably because of the strategy to avoid the risk of looking overbearing (he did on several occasions, anyway). Unlike the recent McCain-Obama gunfight, there was no vindictiveness or personal animosity.
Gwen Ifill was like a deer in the headlight beam because of criticism of her role due to her new book that involves Obama and has his name in the title. She did nothing to harm Palin's presentation or play up Biden.
Those who watched this debate as an alternative entertainment or who are more affected by style than substance will feel Palin won by a fairly large margin (say, 55-45), but the margin and win will be just the opposite among those who watched it to evaluate them as a potential president. Biden answered the questions much more comprehensively, sometimes with too much detail for the time alloted, but with less bluster than normal. Palin often gave little or no pointed response, resorting instead to a repetitive rah-rah-sis-boom-bah that became obvious toward the end as her gaff-avoidance tactic.
For what may be the biggest event in her political career Palin will be remembered for her blatant folksiness, pleasant grin and bear it approach and for dropping the letter "g" in words endin' in "ing"; Biden for his flat, narrow eyes, dry and academic manner and for not asking "Chuck" to stand up if he was there or informing us about FDR's use of television. Both will be remembered as being polite and even complimentary of the other on certain matters.
Overall, it was probably a draw, and certainly not a "game-changer" in terms of the outcome of the election.
