4th Of July In Hebron
Bay Fireworks, (the same company putting off tonight's Fireworks in Willards) put off an incredible show in Hebron last night.
The Owners we kind enough to invite Jennifer, Gavin and me to go behind the scenes and watch them put off this fantastic show. Long Life Treated Lumber is always kind enough to lease this property for $1.00 each time they set them off.
I received several calls from people today who visited the Shorebirds Stadium last night as well as Ocean City and they didn't seem too pleased? Although the Hebron Fireworks Show went off late last night, it was certainly a great Show.
We will be in Willards in about 2 hours setting up the Motor Coach for yet another great Show. Hope to see you there!
Remember The Kitten That Arrived At Our Home A Few Weeks Ago?
Willards Fireworks Still On!
I spoke with the folks from Bay Fireworks a short time ago and the show is still on.....for now. I was told that there is bad weather coming toward us and it's supposed to hit early afternoon. It's not supposed to last too long so we're looking forward to a nice show. Station 7 Restaurant will be there along with Whitey's Barbecue serving up some good food. There will be a few other organizations with booths including a local church making snow cones and providing music and an Alex's Lemonade to raise funds to fight childhood cancer. This is going to be a good time considering it started out as just a fireworks display. People are invited to start showing up at about 4:00 pm.

Monsoor Awarded Medal of Honor
Everyone should read and watch this video. Holidays like the 4th, Memorial Day, and days of recognitions as Pearl Harbor Day and D-Day are solemn reminders of all those who have served to preserve our Country.
Petty Officer Michael A. Monsoor was one of those individuals and his story of selfless sacrifice and courage is a reminder of what our men and women are doing on daily basis for all of us. I doubt you would see the Westboro Church out in the field or Code Pink ever doing a duty as such as Monsoor.
Please take the time to read the Fox News article and watch the Youtube tribute and give thanks for the commitment that our armed forces exhibit.
Hope everyone had a safe and fun 4th of July!

Sometimes You Have To Eat Crow
Last night I posted an article about a woman 93 years old being raped. Here's the deal. She was 73, not 93.
"Hi Joe,
Sorry to say but that did happen. I know this lady personally, her daughter and I are best friends. I don't think she is 93, think closer to 73. She knew this guy, he came up to the house while she was outside , after they went in he wanted her car and she would not give him the keys.
He sexually assaulted her with a bottle. She is doing ok. She is in the early stages of Alsiemers and she will no longer be able to live there. Between you and I, she should have been out of there some time ago before this terrible thing happened. Her biggest issue with leaving the house is her adopted cats, about 25 of them.. My friend Terri has tried several times to remove the cats and get her into a more livable situation, has even gotten rid of other cats years prior, but she only goes out and brings more home. This may be a blessing in disguise because from what I understand the health dept has condemned the house and the Humane Society has removed most of the cats. She will now be living with her son.
IMO he should have taken more time for her before instead of waiting for this to happen. Apparently she not only took in stray cats, but stray people as well and had given this girl off the street a place to stay. From what I am hearing the girl has a "drug" problem and I would be willing to put money on it that if it weren't for her being there, this guy would have never known anything about Miss Margaret. Since she knew the guy I am sure there won't be any problem in finding him."

Haddaway Stands Up For Veterans
(Easton, MD) - As Americans nationwide reflect on the meaning behind the 4th of July holiday, Delegate Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio (Rep-Maryland) signed the Disabled American Veterans' "Stand Up For Veterans" Pledge in support of efforts to enact policies that will provide for the needs of veterans, including properly treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI).
The National Foundation for Women Legislators' (NFWL) National Policy Committee on Veterans Affairs teamed up with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) to encourage elected women nationwide wide to support new policies and laws that will meet the needs of veterans returning from deployment in Iraq and Afghanist an.
DAV recently launched Stand Up for Veterans (www.standup4vets.org) as a national grassroots initiative to improve health care for all veterans. The initiative addresses four main areas in veterans' health care:
· Traumatic brain injury
· Mental health challenges (which includes women's health, PTSD, and substance abuse)
· Family caregivers
· Funding reform
"I would like to commend Delegate Haddaway for signing this Pledge to meet the needs of the heroic men and women in her state," stated Joe Violante, DAV's National Legislative Director and NFWL Board Member. "Thousands of our military service personnel and veterans are returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with serious wounds and permanent disabilities. Millions of veterans from prior wars also have been disabled in mil itary service.
"I have pledged to take all actions necessary to ensure that veterans continue to have access to all the benefits and health care services they have earned through their sacrifice," said Haddaway. "I will do everything I can to ensure that our National Guardsmen, Reservists, and active duty military personnel are properly cared for. It's the least we can do, considering all they have done for us." She also stated that she was very proud of the organizations in Maryland and on the Mid-Shore that are helping veterans with access to these services including the Department of Veterans Affairs, Mid Shore Mental Health Systems and the Mental Health Association of Talbot County. "These organizations and agencies should be commended for their local and regional efforts and I will also work to support them in any way I can."
Delegate Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio is a state representative for District 37B (Talbot, Dorchester, Caroline and Wicomico Counties). She has been a member of the Maryland House of Delegates since 2003 and is a member of the Legislative Veterans Caucus. She is a member of the National Foundation for Women Legislators and is their Education Coordinator for Maryland.

BREAKING NEWS!
The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office have arrested Duran Moss, the suspect in the murder recently at Runaway Bay Apartments.
I will continue to shop there are they are the only place in town that gives free coffee to firefighters/EMT's/cops.
Deputies McLaughlin, Bowden & Avnet found him and Moss tried to run but Sheriff's Deputies were able to detain him. He was found in possession of a stolen hand gun and a large amount of drugs.
Duran Moss comes from a family with a history of criminal activity. His Father, Nate Moss Sr. was arrested years ago for possession of a hand gun as well as drugs back in the Project Disarm days. The Son, Nate Moss Jr. was arrested for shooting a man in the face at a local Pool Hall.
Once again, GREAT WORK from the WCSO. Think about that Folks, these guys just took a possible murderer off the streets with a stolen hand gun, unbelievable. The streets are a little safer in the City of Salisbury once again.
Housing Market Crash "Quote of the Week"
"From 2005 through 2007 alone — that is, at the peak of the housing bubble — more than 22 million Americans bought either new or existing houses. Now that the bubble has burst, many of those homebuyers have lost heavily on their investment. At this point there are probably around 10 million households with negative home equity — that is, with mortgages that exceed the value of their houses."

People Want To Boycott The Gordy Tiger Marts Over Frank Kratovil Signs?
Comments have been coming in referencing people wanting to boycott the Gordy Tiger Mart Gas Stations for blatantly displaying Frank Kratovil Signs in front of their stores.
I was very busy the past few days, some of which involved some campaign discussions and the word is in fact quickly spreading from Republicans who are sick of the fact that the Gordy's would be so dumb as to put politics before business and take such a risk. Many people were saying they had bought all of their gas there and they stopped buying anything from them. Then once that discussion started people started agreeing and the word quickly spread, don't buy gas at a Gordy Gas Station.
How do YOU feel about such remarks going around? I know I have never spent a dime in their stores ever since I learned Bill Gordy was involved in the business. I'll not support a man who believes spending $10,000,000.00 in a Fire Station that's not even 1/4 as busy as a New York City Fire Station that would probably only spend about a quarter of that.
I look forward to your input.
Question of the Day, Sat 7/5
This question brought to you by Cliff:
Do you go to the movies? When and what's the last movie you saw at the theater? Do you buy sodas/food/snacks there?
and/or . . .
Do you rent movies? From who? (Blockbuster, Netflix, local rental store, etc) How often? How much do you think you spend a month on movie rentals?

New Fire Chief Named In Anne Arundel
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Anne Arundel County Executive John Leopold announced the appointment of Deputy Fire Chief J. Robert Ray as the county's next fire chief.
He will succeed David Stokes, who is retiring Oct. 1 after more than 30 years in the department.
Leopold praised Stokes for fiscal responsibility and for developing partnerships between career and volunteer firefighters in the county.
Anne Arundel County is one of the largest combination fire departments in the country, and Stokes recognized the importance of heart health by securing a huge wellness grant to improve fitness.
Leopold said he is confident of a smooth transition.
Ray said he knows he's taking over a fire department already kept in great shape by a man who will be missed.
Ray brings more than 30 years of service to the county to his new job as chief. He is a former head of the county's Department of Inspections and Permits.
He said to lead the department is a dream come true.
For the second year, the fire department is coming in under budget, with a $300,000 surplus in overtime and a $2 million surplus in operating costs, county officials said.
Editors Note: God Bless The Volunteers! Now that's fiscal responsibility. Are you taking notes Chief See & Mayor Tilghman?

Master Chief Petty Officer McGahagin Returns From Iraq
Hi Joe,
I just returned from the airport where I met MCPO McGahagin. I got to take this picture of Charles with his wife (left) and daughter (right).
We talked for several minutes about his time in Iraq. He was stationed where my brother is. He also gave me his email address. If you'd like to have it just let me know.
WBOC was there with their camera. We'll be on tonight. They caught us talking and shaking hands. There was a nice crowd there waiting for his arrival.
