Maryland State Police Make a Major Marijuana Bust In Willards

I was informed today, (no Press Release yet) yesterday the Maryland State Police made a major bust on a traffic stop in Willards. The driver was speeding and was pulled over. There was an obvious scent of marijuana coming from the vehicle. I'm awaiting the volume they recovered but from what I've been told it was pretty darned serious. Apparently the pot was found in jars.

I do have more information but I'm going to hold back on saying anything without a Press Release as I wouldn't was to impede on their investigation. Great Work Salisbury Maryland State Police!

Major Breaking Friday Night News

The New Salisbury Fire Department is falling apart! That's right! The ceramic floors from the new kitchen area are cracking and popping and some of the doors are having a hard time closing, one is off by 1 1/2 inches to 2 inches at the bottom and won't seal! They've got chairs not designed for the flooring in the new Station in which the engineers who recommended them completely screwed up. This is not caused by abuse, (scratching and marking the floors) from the Firefighters. They've had overflows from the bathrooms and flowed onto the carpeting. The new doors aren't working properly and they're having to relocate equipment because they cannot get certain doors open. They still haven't installed the speakers so Firefighters inside the building even know there's a fire in progress! Some pagers have dead spots in the building and the speakers are a must. Another piece of information just came in. You know those new big custom doors going into their new Conference Room, they're bowing and are visably showing major signs of not being level at the bottom of the doors. If a taxpayer saw all of this they would freak out.

What say you now Barrie Tilghman, Chief See & Deputy Chief Gordy?

A Letter To The Editor

Joe:

With the recent cataclysmic escalation of oil prices - (oil topped $142 a barrel in early - morning trading for the first time) - I feel that you must communicate this message to all of our government legislators - (City, County, State, Federal).

The time is well overdue to require all non - essential government personnel - (Police and ambulance as the only exclusions - NO OTHER EXCLUSIONS) - to be required to drive their State, Federal, City, vehicles to a designated terminal whereby their driving habits can be severely monitored and regulated.

With gas now towering in excess of $4.00/gallon it has become obvious that time has now reached CRITICAL MASS whereby accountability is demanded from the taxpaying public.

I propose the following actions, Effective Immediately, a designated terminal should be required for all County, State, City, and Federal vehicles to be turned-in at the end of each workday, again, no exclusions.

Dramatic measures are required to meet DRAMATIC FUEL COST CONDITIONS. It is only fair to the taxpayers for this system to be implemented ASAP as they are the ones footing the cost to subsidize the current sub-standard system.

Striped Icebergs

Amazing striped icebergs

Icebergs in the Antarctic area sometimes have stripes, formed by
layers of snow that react to different conditions.

Blue stripes are often created when a crevice in the ice sheet
fills up with meltwater and freezes so quickly that no bubbles form.

When an iceberg falls into the sea, a layer of salty seawater can
freeze to the underside. If this is rich in algae, it can form a
green stripe.

Brown, black and yellow lines are caused by sediment, picked up
when the ice sheet grinds downhill towards the sea.

Who is W. R. Witzke?

In Friday's Daily Times we were treated to an oddity - a letter to the editor that was both well thought out AND very well written. It didn't hurt that I was in full agreement with the author.

I don't know if Witzke is a man or a woman. I don't know whether he or she is a Democrat or a Republican. I do know that Witzke is either very intelligent or some kind of conservative savant.

Witzke has provided one of the most succinct and persuasive pieces against Wicomico County's antiquated dispensary system. We commend Witzke for his or her writing and logic. We also wish they wrote for us at Delmarva Dealings. We can always use an intelligent voice like this.

Quote of the Day... Pay Attention this one is Deep

Individual rights are not subject to a public vote; a majority has no right to vote away the rights of a minority; the political function of rights is precisely to protect minorities from oppression by majorities (and the smallest minority on earth is the individual).

Question of the Day, Fri 6/27

Today is National HIV testing day. Have you ever been tested for HIV? Have you had a loved you die of such a disease?

Today is also "Decide to be married" Day. Are you happily married? How many years? Are you happily divorced?

Why We Need A Dispensary Referendum NOW

A well thought-out and literate editorial in this morning's Daily Times provides the answer. Our District 37 and 38 legislators lack the moral courage and political will to tackle this issue without the cover a referendum would provide.

A referendum is really not necessary. IF Wicomico's state legislators wanted to abolish this antiquated system, they could do so in January.

IF our Republican members are the true conservatives that they claim to be, we shouldn't have any problem securing their support. Why do we? How can one claim to be for a free market and yet refuse to abolish a government monopoly?

As for the Democrat members of the Wicomico legislative contingent, I'm a little more sympathetic. The dispensary system (statewide) has historically been a corrupt perk of days gone by and was even used as a perverse electoral tool prior to the 1960's. Democrats are loathe to give up any tool that once helped them maintain an iron grip on the state house.

As usual, Wicomico's County Executive is straddling he fence giving lip service to the POSSIBILITY of a referendum, while dragging his heels to keep the measure off of November's ballot. Ditto for some members of our county council.

Ultimately, no referendum - no action in Annapolis. That is why we need this measure on November's ballot. Without a vote by the people of Wicomico County, their representatives in Annapolis are simply too scared to touch an issue that should have ceased to be controversial upon ratification of the 21st Amendment.

A referendum itself is not a slam dunk. The Wicomico County Liquor Control Board will not hesitate to spend TAXPAYER MONEY to wage a campaign against its passage. Another corrupt perk of an institution that is no longer relevant.

One Year Ago Today

It's hard to believe $14,000,000.00 later the Salisbury Fire Department is finally complete and the redneck suckers running the joint got nothing more than a Morton Butler Style Building. I guess when you live in a Pre Fab home in Delmar or a Condo/Townhouse, who would know any better, right? It's not like they can say, we knew what we were doing! I mean, I dare you to find me a more expensive Fire Station ANYWHERE in the entire United States, seriously. Idiots!

Obama Reneged on the FISA Bill

In our upside down world in which we live it would seem that the Republicans would want to vote NO on FISA and the Democrats YES. However, quite the opposite is happening and the ACLU is all over it!

As most of you know I am extremely right winged so much so I cannot call myself a Republican but must call myself a Libertarian.

However as Ann Coulter calls him and I think I will follow in her footsteps B. Hussein Obama has stepped from the ranks of the Left and has voted with those on the Right to pass the FISA Bill.

The ACLU says it represents “an unprecedented extension of governmental surveillance over Americans.”

B. Hussein Obama, sounding on Friday a lot like Bush, said: “Given the legitimate threats we face, providing effective intelligence collection tools with appropriate safeguards is too important to delay.”

Here’s what Bush said the same day as Obama: The bill “allows our intelligence professionals to quickly and effectively monitor the plans of terrorists abroad, while protecting the liberties of Americans here at home.”

But it doesn’t protect our liberties, and Obama ought to know that.
Leading Dems are wondering if he has even read the bill! And if he has read it and still approves then it is an even bigger problem!

This bill permits minimal oversight by the Courts,
The FISA Court only reviews general procedures for targeting and minimizing the use of information that is collected. The court may not know who, what, or where will actually be tapped, thereby undercutting any meaningful for the court and violating the Fourth Amendment.”

What’s more, in the incredibly rare instances where the FISA Court denies a warrant to the President, under the new bill the President can go ahead and do the wiretapping anyway while the appeals process continues, a process that the ACLU says can take two months.

So Why is B. Hussein Obama breaking ranks with his party and supporting this bill?

If you are supporting him you need to look into these issues and ask yourself if this is a liberty you want to just throw away. The other thing you need to ask yourself is ... What else will he break ranks on?

My next article is going to be in the form of a question...
Do you know the difference between a NeoCon and a NeoLib?

Maryland Chapter 3 Red Knights International Motorcycle Club Iron Butt Ride

Maryland Chapter 3 Red Knights International Motorcycle Club

Iron Butt Ride

**UPDATE**

June 22, 2008

We are off to a great start! Here are the current details!

DEPARTURE DATE: Friday, 27 June between 9 -10 pm

FROM: Berlin- Ocean City Wal-Mart

RETURNING: Saturday, 28 June before dark

TO: Berlin - Ocean City Wal-Mart

So far the route has been planned. I covers 1099 miles and will take a minimum of 18 hours of riding to complete. It involves all three states of Delmarva. The ride will be conducted in a self-paced style, that is to say that there will be a number of bikes participating, but they will be riding in groups no larger than 4 and 2 or 3 is preferred for safety reasons. Each rider will be able to ride at his or her own pace and follow the course stopping when it is necessary for each of the individuals or riding pairs. Safety will be of the utmost importance. Each rider will be linked by cell phone to the lead car and the following truck. This will allow riders to be informed and to inform the lead and following vehicle if there are any problems. *No riders will be expected to talk while riding, they will however be expected to check in with the lead or following cars from time to time during fuel and rest stops. This is again for safety sake.

Riders who become tired and are not able to complete the ride will be afforded the opportunity to be picked up by the follow-up truck and/or to be logged out of the ride and free to return home after they have gotten a chance to rest.

The departure time was chosen in an effort to provide the most daylight hours of riding, especially in unfamiliar areas. By leaving on Friday night, we will be riding in the dark for the first several hours while we are still amped up and on familiar roads. The majority of the ride will be completed during daylight hours. Riding during daylight hours, especially towards to the end of the ride, will be important to increase visibility during what will be your most tired riding time.

WHO: Any member of MD3 is welcome to put their name in the hat and ride. It was discussed that MD3 Road Captains would hold a meeting of riders a couple of times before the event to review the condition of not only the rider, but also the bikes. Safety is the most important part of any ride!

Our goal for the ride is to raise money for the Lupus Foundation. Riders will be asked to raise a minimum of $100 ridership fee with a goal of $250 or more if they are willing to go out and get the pledges. We will have pledge forms for members and riders to use in getting support for the ride soon. Remember if you are unable to make the ride, there are many other ways to contribute. Make a personal pledge to a club member who plans to ride. Raise pledges for a club member who plans to ride. Offer to drive or ride in lead or follow vehicles. Be there Friday night to support our riders. Come back Saturday as our members arrive home. There are so many ways to support this event!

Again we are looking for as many as 20 riders, one lead vehicle with 2-4 and a tailing truck with a trailer and a spare bike with a few members.

For more details contact: Bob Thompson bob@bikedreamstv.com

They are doing the ride to raise money for the Lupas Foundation. They leave from the Wal-Mart in Berlin tomorrow night at 8PM.
