Before GA Harrison, (Delmarve Dealings) left us, he had the following Post up.
"Providing essential services while being a competent steward of taxpayer money should be the primary goal a municipal government … unless your name is Barrie Tilghman. The Salisbury city government has a different goal - feeding the bureaucratic beast. Electrical contractors doing business in the city learned this lesson Tuesday night.
What were the reasons given for a municipal takeover of a previously private sector solution? Was there any accusation of wrong doing or incompetence in the current electrical inspection method? No. Simply put, the Tilghman administration wishes to grow the size of municipal government and take in additional revenues."
So Big Mouth Barrie, what happened? I'll try to bring this back up every so often so we can all get a laugh from time to time.

Can You Afford $5.00 To Help This Family For Christmas?
Sheila Polk and her Husband are raising their 6 Grandchildren ranging in ages 15, 14, 10, 6, 5 & 4 years old. Unfortunately in today's society, this is all too familiar.
Sheila has congenital heart disease, diabetes, she has had two knee replacements and is getting ready to have both hips replaced as well. Because of her heart disease, she is also bound to a wheelchair. Her Husband got diabetes and is blind in one eye and legally blind in the other eye as well.
Last Friday, Sheila went to the Salisbury K-Mart with her Granddaughter and had her purse over the handrail of her wheelchair. While shopping, someone stole the $250.00 cash she had to do her Christmas Shopping.
When they went to take their items to the register to pay for them they had realized the money was gone. They searched the entire Store and ultimately called the Salisbury Police Department. The person at the SPD told them that since they hadn't seen anyone take the money, there was nothing they could do.
So here's what I'm asking everyone willing to participate to do. Write a check for $5.00, that's it. If you can give more, God Bless You. However, imagine the position this Family is in, (as well as many others) and just reach into your pocket for $5.00 each.
I will tell you that Sheila, (nor ANYONE related to her) came to me with this story. It was one of those things where a friend was calling someone else and they dialed the wrong number. Once they realized they had done so, (knowing this person) she asked how everything was going. They could tell something was wrong and Sheila explained what had happened.
This friend then contacted me, (who I know like a Sister) and would NEVER take advantage of anyone. I chose to call Sheila and ask her the details and I am now asking everyone else to do their good deed for the Season. If you can send a Gift Card, a Check, a Toy, whatever makes you comfortable, this Family would be forever grateful.
You can send a check or gift to,
Sheila Polk

Merry Christmas & Thank You! If you cannot help, please keep this Family in your thoughts and prayers as raising one Grandchild is tough enough. SIX, in their condition, well, you know.

Hat Tip To The Salisbury Fire Department
Tonight at 7:00pm The Salisbury Fire Department (all 3 stations) will be doing a "After the Fire" saturation of the neighborhood including Washington Street where the fire was. They are checking for working Smoke/Fire Detectors, giving them away and installing them as they go if needed. If the homeowner is not home they will leave a letter stating they will come back to do what is needed.

NEWT TO ENDORSE GILCHREST IN MARYLAND
Michael Steele also scheduled to attend Gilchrest event
CHESTERTOWN -- Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich will travel to Maryland next month to offer his personal endorsement of US Rep. Wayne Gilchrest and headline a fundraising banquet for the Gilchrest campaign.
Gingrich will be joined by former Maryland Lt. Governor Michael Steele and an honorary host committee including Congressman Roscoe Bartlett, Anne Arundel County Executive John Leopold, and Harford County Executive David Craig for a dinner and reception on behalf of Gilchrest.
"This is a most distinguished gathering of state and national Republican leaders, and I am deeply honored to have them come together for this important effort," said Gilchrest.
Speaker Gingrich is widely hailed as the architect and leader of the 1994 Republican revolution, charting the course for Republican control of Congress for the first time in more than a generation. He continues to be a national leader on key conservative causes and recently declined a national effort to draft him for a Presidential run.
Michael Steele served with distinction as both the Chairman of the Maryland Republican Party and as Lt. Governor in the Ehrlich administration before making an unsuccessful run for the United States Senate in a campaign hailed nationally as a flawless and well-run effort. Steele now chairs GOPAC - a national organization founded in part by Newt Gingrich - to promote the election of Republicans to office on all levels.
County Executives John Leopold and David Craig hold the distinction of being the highest locally elected Republicans in the First Congressional district, and both have offered their strong endorsement of Gilchrest.
“Wayne Gilchrest has a reputation of integrity and he’s a person of conscience who makes decisions on what he believes is in the best interest of our nation. That’s why I am proud to support him,” said County Executive John Leopold.
"I support Wayne because Wayne is one of us. And I don't support him because he is an incumbent, but because he is a good person. He takes care of the people back home, he understands what public service is about, and he has served us honorably," said Harford County Executive David Craig.
The dinner will be held Thursday, January 10th at the Westin Park hotel in Annapolis . For more information, contact the Gilchrest campaign at 410-778-1573.
OK, Enough Is Enough!
Ladies & Gentlemen, last night the City held a special meeting on PAC14 before their Work Session. Councilwoman Terry Cohen had sent John Pick a message days ago asking him for the balances in the Contingency & Surplus as well as the General & Water & Sewer Fund. In order to be able to justify many of the topics that were going to be discussed, these numbers would be extremely important for ALL Council Members to know.
WELL, John Pick came back to Councilwoman Cohen with the following. The General Fund has a balance of, $53,457.00. The Surplus Fund was $3,268,709.00 . The Water & Sewer Fund was around $11,000,000.00, GET THIS, AS OF 6-30-06!
YOU HEARD ME, those figures are of JUNE 30, 2006! The City has YET to reconcile their BOOKS and there's NO WAY they can have the rest of their work completed if they can't give current numbers.
Now if I were the CFO of the City, I'd be FIRING everyone possible and get started on a new Staff. However, that's NOT what this Mayor wants. She wants everyone confused. She wants everyone left in the dark. You DON'T give these kind of answers to your City Council, Mr. Pick.
This is December 18, 2007, NOT 6-30-2006! If I were you Mr. & Mrs. Taxpayer, I'd fire that woman Mayor so fast it isn't funny. I'd throw out Louise and Comegys and Shields is just a no brainer. It's time for a new Council and a new Mayor, unless you like this kind of blind accountability? SUCKERS!
A Sad Start This Morning
"I just wanted everyone who knew Memphis to know that we had to have him put down yesterday. He had a very bad accident and broke his leg, which could not be fixed. As you all know we got Memphis when he was just six weeks old and from feeding him his milk all day to having him broke to ride this past fall he was a loving little clown who always make us laugh. Our friends Lucy and Ed from Happy Trails Farm could not have been more kind in helping us threw such a bad day. We are going to really miss the little guy. I have attached a picture of him
that I took last winter that I really love."
I'll never forget the Couple that adopted 2 Foals from us, all the way up in Connecticut. I personally delivered them to their home and they were the most excited Family on Earth at the time.
Jennifer and I had rescued 35 Foals that year from going to slaughter. We purchased them from all over the Country and paid $50.00 more than what the Meat Market was willing to pay for them. Then we'd bring them all the way back to Delmar and start the painful process of being their parents, nursing them with bottles, (just like the Family above did) and doing everything necessary to keep them alive.
Unfortunately, we learned this morning one has been lost. I'll tell you one thing though. WE MADE A DIFFERENCE! That's all that counts.
UPDATE:
I will never forget the day you came up my driveway here in Danbury with your trailer full of babies! What you did was an amazing thing. Memphis was always finding new ways to get hurt and I had spent more money on vet bills for him and his accidents than you could ever imagine. Honey, Blue, Gwen and Radiance my other horsers never get hurt (knock on wood!).
SBYNEWS.COM & The SPD
For years now, the Chief of the Salisbury Police Department has been claiming he has been sending The Daily Times Press Releases but they refuse to produce them. In fact, the Chief seemed quite upset that there has constantly been uplifting news about Mike Lewis and the Wicomico County Sheriff's Department, yet the SPD was ignored.
Ladies & Gentlemen, even I had been asked to see what I could do to boost morale within the SPD and slow things down a bit with the WCSO and I did in fact find a way to do so. Quite frankly, it's worked too. I cannot get the SPD Main Office to e-mail me any of these reports/releases but if I look in the right places I can access what I need and the information is produced.
That being said, check out today's Daily Times! I don't care what anyone says, SBYNEWS.COM has more influince than most want to believe. The Daily Times hasn't produced Press Releases from the SPD in years! Now they are! So you see, we are making a difference and people are becoming better informed of what's going on in their community. Let's just hope they don't become selective and only let you know what they want you to know. If that happens, just know you can still come here to get the rest and always know you can come here to get it first. LOL
The Daily Times Website
Unfortunately, one of the drawbacks of living in the country is that we don't have cable and we can't get high speed access through our telephone lines.
That being said, honest to God, I have never experienced such fast Internet Access within Dial Up before and I am quite pleased with each and every location I visit. That is, with exception of The Daily Times. I don't care how fast I hook up, if you're on Dial Up, it takes, (honestly) almost 5 minutes for their Site to load up. Then if you go click on something, yep, it's another 5 minutes.
You would think with their resources they would do something to make it easy for everyone but I guess they're depending on everyone having extremely fast, high speed Internet Access. Well, you can't fix something you're not aware of, so now they know. Your Website Sucks for Dial Up Users!
