Safety Alert: Fire and EMS Personnel Urged to Review Apparatus Safety
Slow Down * Stop at Intersections Use Extreme Caution while Responding
Fairfax, Va., Dec. 14, 2007... The IAFC, in cooperation with the IAFC Safety Health and Survival Section, urges fire departments to review their vehicle operations policies and safety procedures in response to the increasing number of critical vehicle crashes involving fire and EMS response vehicles in the past several weeks.
“Holiday traffic and winter storms can exacerbate the vehicle hazards associated with responding quickly to a call,” said Chief Steven P. Westermann, IAFC president. “We are calling on our members to review their safety procedures to address the recent spate of accidents before the trend progresses.”
All departments are urged to:
1. Review vehicle operations policies and any applicable state laws, particularly regarding stopping at controlled intersections, and during weather events such as snow/ice, floods and high winds. If policies do not exist, the IAFC recommends drafting them (samples are available at the links listed below).
2. Hold training and structured discussions with all personnel on those policies to provide clarification and direction as to what is expected and required when responding to emergency calls.
3. Check the qualifications and training of all vehicle operators.
4. Ensure that jurisdiction insurance providers are aware of our vehicle operations policies.

SPD, Butts Or Fags?
"I would like to add that my family and I were traveling down Pemerton Drive the 17 of November to take our children to go see their grandparents.
There was a police officer riding my A** while I have two small children in the back seat. I knew he was waiting for me to do something so he could pull me over , and he did for throwing out a cigarette.
As he turned his lights on I drove maybe a 1/2 mile to get to a safe place to pull over. When I pulled over he wanted to tell me that I didn't pull over fast enough and I explained I waited to pull over at a safe location I don't want someone to hit us and he replied that never happens. I asked him yes I asked him why I was pulled over I wasn't speeding and he replied my passenger ( my husband) throw out a cigarette.
So he takes my license and takes FOREVER and finally comes back with a $140.00 fine for a cigarette are you serious, he gives my husband the fine and told him to sign and by signing he is admitting his guilt. My husband said no he threaded to arrest my husband in front of our five and two year old. My husband said he was not signing saying he was guilty then the officer corrected his self and said by not signing you are guilty. My husband then wanted to read the ticket of course to see what he was signing the officer told him to give his ticket book back and my husband said I am reading the ticket. He keep repeating give me my ticket book and my husband asked him for his name and ID number and he refused to give that information.
Then the officer told my husband he had to the count of three to give him his ticket book or he was going to arrest him for theft are you serious so the officer counted and it reminded me of the tootsie pop commercial were the owl count to three yes I laughed which pissed him off even more so at the count of three my husband gave the little boy his ticket book back. Then he wanted to keep shining his light in my babies eyes and I asked him to lower his flashlight which he did. I had a five and two year old back there scared that there father was going to get arrested and at the same time blinded.
Needless to say we were pissed when we finally left and called the Salisbury police department to file a complaint and they acted like someone called and asked for president Bushes number it was ridiculous and everyone was busy and could not take the complaint. So our nice evening with the in-laws turned out great. Get pulled over, get threatened, and get a $140.00 fine a week before the holidays. We are not planning to pay the fine we plan to fight it out in court and take that pigs job while we are at it."
In America we call it a Butt. In England they call them Fags. In Salisbury I'd call this guy an asshole.
Stupidity
Only in America ......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.
Only in America ......do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke.
Only in America ......do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.
Only in America ......do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.
Only in America ......do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.
Only in America ......do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'.
Only in America ......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.
EVER WONDER ....
Why the sun lightens our hair, but darkens our skin ?
Why women can't put on mascara with their mouth closed?
Why don't you ever see the headline "Psychic Wins Lottery"?
Why is "abbreviated" such a long word?
Why is it that doctors call what they do "practice"?
Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?
Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?
Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?
Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?
Why didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes?
Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections? You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? Why don't they make the whole plane out of that
stuff?!
Why don't sheep shrink when it rains?
Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?
If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?
If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?

For A Minute I Thought This Was Written By The SFD
"I am sick and tired of all you bitches bad mouthing SPD and their officers. You make these comments that SPD officers are racist, they lie, cheat, steal, and other offenses. Where is your proof. If you have it then take it to the PD and let them investigate it. You bitches make these things up to make yourselves feel better about the sorry lives you live. I have had the oppertunity to work with alot of these officers, and they are great officers. Yes there are alot of young officers, but they are great men, women, and officers. I don't know anything about this incident, but I would be there was a little more to this story. None of you know what happened out there and what he was arrested for. All of you get a life and start backing these great men and women who are protecting you while you sit in you houses thinking up more lies about the officers that risk their lives everyday in an effort to make you life safer. All of you bad mouthing any officers need to get your bitch ass off the sofa and try to do their jobs. Good bless all officers not only at SPD, but also at WCSD and MSP. There are people out here who love and respect all of you."
Gratitude Campaign
GO HERE To see his whole story and video.
For the past several years as I've been traveling around the country, I've been approaching soldiers in the airports and thanking them for serving for us. On several occasions I have noticed that it felt a little awkward for both of us. There are several reasons, some of which I am even just now learning as I produce this film and talk to more soldiers. But they have always appreciated being thanked, and I have always felt better having expressed my gratitude.
I started to think that it would be nice if civilians had a gesture or sign that they could use to say "thank you" quickly and easily without even having to approach. I did some research and found the sign that we are now using.
Is this limited to the military? Not at all. If you look around you I'm sure that you'll find lots of people who are serving their communities, from local to global. If you appreciate their service, give them a sign. Say "thank you."

Information On Bennett Finally Becomes Public RED NET ALERT
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week we have had incidents of individual and group related activity on the school campus. All of the students involved have been disciplined. As a result of these incidents we have increased the security, lighting and the administrative presence at future basketball games. If we continue to have issues, we will limit spectator access because the safety of our students is our goal.
Additionally, the school community has reviewed and recommitted to the policy for lateness. I am sure that your student has told you that if they are late for class, they have to get a late note to get admitted to class. The staff is monitoring students who are in the hallway during class time and every student who is not where they belong is being held to the Wicomico County Board of Education Code of Conduct. This accountability for student where abouts has reestablished that this is a learning institution where student safety is our main concern.
Beginning Monday December 17, 2007, all students must be off campus by 3:15 PM unless they are under the direct supervision of a teacher, coach, or advisor. If they have a late practice they must leave school or report to a designated area. All students in violation of this policy will be disciplined according to the Wicomico County Board of Education Board of Conduct. Your student's safety in our school is our top priority.
The challenge for James Bennitt High School and all schools in Wicomico County will continue to be how to educate all students while reducing the negative influences on our student's lives. I welcome your thoughts and suggestions for community involvement to keep our student on a positive track.
Sincerely,
Lori Batts

Don Singletom Speaks Out About The Daily Times/Gannett
Ladies & Gentlemen,
I am a part of a Panel who has been chosen by The Daily Times to speak out every week. Once a week the Daily Times asks a question to this Panel and we respond. We also get together once a year at Christmas time for some fellowship and as we are working out a time, date and location, Don has responded to such an invitation with the following reply and asked that I publish such.
"Hi Susan,
This under the rubric of "make them pay."
I was stunned to learn that the Des Moines Register, another Gannett so called newspaper, had excluded Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel from the debate last night. Their excuse was wad of logic chopping drivel. The reality is they censored the two liberal candidates in the race. I will shortly call to cancel my subscription to the Daily Times. Ganett will never see another dime or a dollar from me. This kind of egregious censorship by a supposed journalistic organ smacks of thought control. I don't care who your candidate is in any of the races no single organ has the right to decide who you will hear and will not hear. That the organ in question pretends to be a newspaper is outrageous. That Iowa Public Television, so called, participated adds insult to injury. I can't imagine why anyone who values the First Amendment would ever deal with Gannett in any way again.

Fire Chief (?) Responds
"Mr. Albero,
You are quite welcome to take pictures on my scene anytime you wish. However if you are endangered or taking gross explicit photos or in the way I can and will have you removed. An emergency scene belongs to the fire department until which time we turn the scene over to another agency or have completed our job. In other words to spell it out for you, if your home is on fire I own it until the fire marshal is completed his investigation. If you think I’m wrong try me!"
Granted, I cannot confirm which "Fire Chief" this is and or if it is officially Chief See. However, respectfully, I would love to get a phone call from Mr. See personally telling me this and I would gladly, (in writing here) keep that telephone call between he and I. 410-430-5349
IF this is Chief See, thank you. I have "NEVER" disrespected any fire or emergency location, ever. Hebron was a situation in which it was clearly taped off and the alleged Fire Chief, (the man claimed he was but turns out he was not) instructed me that I could not take "ANY" pictures and I never attempted to go anywhere near the tape line. I have plenty good equipment to take photos from a safe distance. Ultimately he was wrong and I was able to take all the photos I wanted, while respecting the Cold Zone or Hot Zone.
I respect the fact that a professional job needs to be done in all cases and I have no interest in breaking that respect, hence I have never been removed from a scene. I would warn ANY Fire Department that there are NO exclusive scenes and if I am not warranted the same opportunities there will be lawyers involved and certainly publicity along the way. Like I said, I would never disrespect a scene and I'm grateful for those professionals making sure we are "ALL" within a protected area and NOT in any ones way. On the Jersey Road scene, I'll have the one commenter know it was "I" who was there well before 47 News got there and they chose to stay at the distance "I" was at.
The information and photos I provide are done so to educate the public what has happened. I have no interest in hurt or dead people from these scenes, not my style. The only time I have done so was the motorcycle accident near the train where, (Thanks God) the gentleman was fine, just shook up. He had no issue with me taking those pictures, there was no blood and again, Thank God he was ok. I believe that was a scene with a positive outcome. Helmets were worn, the proper equipment was worn and in the end there was a positive turn out.
Chief, I look forward to your call and hopefully the two of us can hold a respectable conversation to better the environment for all parties involved.

Art Webster Speaks Out
"artwebster said....
I do not want to get into an argument with anybody. I got what I deserved from the Court of Appeals. I have no complaints. But the "anonymous" commenter who claimed I was Joe's attorney is completely wrong. I did sell Joe my building at 300 West Main Street, but I never represented him, nor have I ever given Joe any legal advice.
I do not know Joe very well. But I will say this: I have dealt with a lot of people over the years in a lot of different transactions. Joe Albero is the most honest, most straight forward person I have ever dealt with. Bar none."
Thanks Art. That was VERY kind of you to state publicly.

I Personally Believe Negative Remarks Come From The Top
If you happen to get The Daily Times, the Fire Department recently has been on the attack against me with statements like the one above.
First of all, I have every right to be at these scenes and I also have every right to take as many pictures of whatever I want and expose whatever I want.
However, someone happens to believe they can threaten me, even in the Newspaper and scare me into believing IF I were to take pictures of any more scenes, they're going to do something about it?
Gordy, you need to take a few more baby steps and express to everyone what a "Cold Zone" is, okeydokey? Then you better educate the Police what a Cold Zone is and then you better have that "Cold Zone" marked in each and every incident.
That being said, I watched The Daily Times the other day, walking right next to a fire while I stayed back on the street, some 50 yards away and used a telephoto lens to get what I needed and everyone loved the pictures. Also standing by my side was 47 News. We respectfully stayed out of every one's way and always have.
So Gordy & See, SHOVE IT! I know it's more than likely you guys on here making most of those nasty comments, makes sense. The "good guys" know what I'm all about and the two of you, (plus a few) aren't kidding anybody. I wouldn't be surprised if the two of you were behind the Watch Desk, even going so far back as the Rachel Polk & Von Siggers days.
One last footnote. Chiefy See, you stare me down one more time like I'm some kind of gay meat for you, you and I are going to have some words. Try it again and I can assure you the entire public is going to know what you just did. I do not have to take your bullshit any longer and now that you have been warned, I consider it a threat whenever you do so. Don't hate me just because I'm beautiful. LOL
Alleged Crisfield Volunteer Fire Fighter Arrested For Vandalism
A current/former Crisfield Volunteer Fire Fighter was arrested for allegedly breaking into a series of soda machines in Crisfield. All I can picture in my mind is one of those toy Fire Trucks in front of WalMart where you put the quarters in and go for a ride. LOL
Larry C.Tyler Jr. was arrested for allegedly prying dollar slots off of the soda machines. More on this later.........

The Salisbury Zoo Has Some Explaining To Do!
The following is the prepared agenda for the upcoming Salisbury Zoo Commission Meeting. Not only will the financial status be quite interesting, they've conveniently left out ANY information referencing the recent Jaguar death. They have also included the Carey Distributors, you know, the whores who want to donate $250.00 to exploit a Jaguar because they carry Jaguar Vodka. Great Timing!
According to the information I have so far, on 11-15 the animal died. On 11-21 the City reported they would receive Pathology Report on 11-21, NOTHING! Something isn't right Ladies & Gentlemen. The Zoo has traditionally covered up hundreds upon hundreds of animal deaths but there wasn't a Blog Site out back then to keep tabs on them and this one isn't going away until they admit, someone screwed up.
I would like to know what Zookeeper was working with that animal the day before its death. I believe I'll file a PIA request for that information today. If they want to continue covering up what happened to this animal, I want to get to the bottom of it. Hopefully it was something less complicated but according to the experts I've spoken with, signs would have shown up in the blood work within the first necropsy on this animal. In other words, disease is pretty much out of the equation. I'd also like to know what the CLOSED SESSION is all about?
